ABSTRACT

Gully erosion poses a significant environmental threat globally, with profound impacts on soil degradation, land loss, and ecosystem disruption. This paper examines the effects of gully erosion on the environment, focusing on its ecological, socio-economic, and hydrological implications. Through a review of existing literature and empirical evidence, it explores the causes and processes of gully erosion, as well as its consequences for biodiversity, water resources, and human livelihoods. The findings highlight the urgent need for sustainable land management practices and erosion control measures to mitigate the adverse effects of gully erosion and restore ecosystem resilience.
